Swim
Comments: Good swim. There was one holdup when I stopped for a swimmer to pass, just as she was told she'd dropped her chip in the previous lane. That cost about 7-8 seconds. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 1
Comments: I swam only with goggles, no cap, so they were off before I left the bldg. The only trouble I had was getting clipped in, and that was minor. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: My time was five minutes slower than last year, though the rain may have accounted for some of it. What would you do differently?: Eat GU on the ride!! Transition 2
Comments: Only problem I had was the person on the opposite side had racked her bike in my space and I was momentarily unsure of where to put mine 9didn't want to infringe on anyone else's space). Run
Comments: I ran out of gas after the first mile. My pace was under 10 mpm after mile 1, but my heart rate was almost 100% of max. I had to walk a bit before the turnaround. I also walked up the crest of Robbins Rd. and on the crest of another hill near the end. Overall, a better run than last year, but I was not pleased. What would you do differently?: I need to ride hills and then RUN. That's the only way I'm ever going to get better on this course. Post race
Warm down: Felt a bit light-headed. Sat down for a minute, at a few bites. When I felt able I walked some. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of proper nutirition. I was so nervous the night before I couldn't eat (though I did eat throughout the day), and I could eat and drink very little that morning. That's why I ran out of gas on the run. I also didn't have my usual energy gel on the bike, which might have helped--or maybe not. Event comments: The race itself was good, but this particular course just kicks my butt.
