bludge in training as usual . just did enough .

non wetsuit made it hard . couldn't see but followed one person most of the way . was easy to go straight anyway as there where cables under water to mark rowing lanes

wanted heart rate of near 152 but spent most time near 160 . just felt right for legs/speed . after 15mins had bike problems . a big cracking sound every few seconds . steering seized up a few times scaring me on a down hill. stopped 5 times probably lost 15-20mins on stops. last stop got help and was told me front bearing stem had seized and to just try riding

was so hot heard them say 36 and got hotter after that . first 4km hurt then found a slow plod speed and just jogged along between aid stations . was looking good for sub 6#0 but cramped up last 3km

It was the morning of Ironman Newfoundland 70.3, I felt queasy. I didn't want to eat or drink anything. I had a full blown case of the pre-race HEEBEE GEEBEES.
