Pre-race routine:

Woke up about 0600 ate some oatmeal and strawberries and got to the race about 1.5 hrs early to make sure that we could get parking.
Event warmup:

Walked around with the family looking at some of the ice sculptures and then did a little jogging, jumping, etc. to warm up....they also had a business/bar open to sit inside right by the start line.
Run
  • 32m 51s
  • 5 kms
  • 06m 34s  min/km
Comments:

Run started up a long sloping hill, felt good most of the run and the hill right before the water station got me. Walked about 1 min to the water station, grabbed some water and then ran on. Race finished up a hill as well.
What would you do differently?:

Overall it was a PR for me. This is only my second 5K ever and first real race in the cold. I have done some training runs outside...but the weather in MO has been all over the place this winter. All in all keep training and improve.
Post race
Warm down:

Walk around and watch as others came in. There were some snacks and hot beverages available at the finish.

Event comments:

Overall a well put together race and one that I will most likely do again.

In November of 2000, I noticed that I was losing the feeling in my toes. The sensation traveled up my body and within a week, I was nearly 80% paralyzed.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had weight issues. I remember standing on the scale as a child weighing 60 pounds and feeling fat. My family dealt with stress by eating.
