Comments: Plan was to start at 285-290, but given yesterday was supposed to start at 275-280, and I ended up doing 260ish...how could that goal be possible. Well...290 felt too easy. Maybe my legs were coming around??? So I pushed it up to 300-305, which would have been a decent goal for a TT like this without the hill climb race the day before. HR was still steady under 180 and RPE was in check. I was finding myself drifting up to 320 watts at times, so I knew I was doing okay. I marked Bill as he was heading back to give myself a time check at that point knowing he was the favorite as the state TT champ at this year's 40k. I got through the turn around fine and hit that checkpoint down 25 seconds net to him. I wasn't going to make that up, but that is about what I would expect to be down, so I knew I was having a good run. Avg power at the turn was 302 and the effort was starting to hurt a little. I was a bit all over the place with wattage...sometimes dropping down to 290, but then back up to 325. It I was really counting down the miles with 5k to go knowing it's only about 8 or so minutes more. Once I got inside 2 miles I tried to put the hammer down to over 315. Last 2 minutes or so I just emptied the tank and did around 370. What would you do differently?: Missed out on 2nd in the division by 4 seconds, and second overall by 6 seconds. Probably should have brought the disc cover and the skinsuit. Oh well. I was EXTREMELY happy with the power output as I was getting worried I wouldn't come out of this rut. Post race

Really had no expectations for this race. I did get a solid 8.5 hours of sleep the night before and my legs didn't feel any significant fatigue though. I wasn't going to bring my TT bike over for this race, and I didn't feel like using clip on aero bars eitther..so just my road setup with the 404's.
Warmup started with a slightly elevated HR again, but about 15 minutes in something just clicked and I was myself again. Cruising at 220-240 watts at 145 bpm...instead of 190-210 watts for that same HR/RPE. That's odd...but I have had instances where I feel best the day after a hard <2 hour ride or race.
