Subject: Hammerhead Tri - sprint swim length question
The advertised length of the sprint swim is .33 of a mile or roughly 535 meters. However, looking at the times in men's 40-44 age group of last year it seems like it is more like around 900 meters. Has anyone participated in the hammerhead in the last year or so that could weigh in on this?

Six years ago I was 44 years old and weighed 260+ pounds. If anybody had suggested to me that at age 50 I would complete a sprint-length triathlon I would have rolled my eyes and grabbed a doughnut!

I'm doing the 22 week sprint tri program and the 2 mile bike ride it starts with is not very challenging. I see this as a opportunity to train the right way and challenge myself. Any ideas?

My problem is I can only swim about 30-40 meters without having to rest. What is the best way to improve this? I need to get from 40 to 750 meters in 6 months.
