I swam the full mile, which is terrible for me as a mile time! I found out later that the second half of my age group swam around 3/4 of a mile and missed the cf that happened at the third to last buoy and all the chop!

I got stuck in a cluster of two waves of men swimming perpendicularly to the swim route and that caused me to actually STOP. I couldn't get through them! I thought I swam well but was so disappointed at my time.

106 in my age group?? Thats absurd.

absolutely ecstatic!! I ran probably 11.5 miles out of 13!! And I loved all the spectators on the boardwalk.

Event comments:

I think part of the bike course was really dangerous. It was too narrow in the bike lane to pass safely and there was a LOT of leapfrogging. I kept having people pass me then take a drink. I wasn't pleased with that.

And the swim!! My age group was in two waves. The second wave swam a shorter distance!! That part was absurd. My swim time would have been ten min faster for sure, and my ranking would be better.

But, overall, I atually liked it. Atlantic City is sad though as a city. Not impressed.

Course: on the old tarmac, like a snake for almost 1 mile back, and forth, and back, and forth. So annoying. Then finally to the boardwalk. then off, then on. Then on the sand, then around some weird building, then down a pier. But I did like it.

My issue is that I am currently deployed and training outside is proving difficult, especially on the bike. I have found a safe 10km running loop but I am struggling with the bike training.

With stroke improvements I find that when I try and swim long I have lost any speed gains that I had because my stroke count just creeps up and up. I also feel like I'm running out of air.

The boat was being tossed around. Someone noted that there were whitecaps on the waves. Another guy said, “This is going to be challenging.” I began to wonder what he meant by 'challenging'.

This program should be used for an athlete who has been following the progression of the Half Iron Distance program and is 12 weeks out from their first Iron distance race.
