Run
Comments: Generally uneventful...which is good. Just tried to stay in contact with the two guys in my age group who went out ahead of me (one of whom is much faster than I am and the other always right around my pace at 5K and 10K). Only had a little tightness behind left knee at 2.25 miles, but backed off the pace a teeny bit to protect that hamstring. Wearing the old Sauconys took a minor toll on my left arch and both calves, but otherwise was fine. What would you do differently?: Nothing...this was as much a training tempo run as a race, in the larger scheme of my racing year. Post race
Warm down: Walked around. What limited your ability to perform faster: Protecting against re-injury. Opting to cross on the logs and planks at the two creek crossings...just not into wet shoes. Event comments: Inaugural championship race for the New Basin Blues Running Club's grand prix race series. Generally scenic and technical, but not overly difficult trail course. I found the course to have been well-marked, but several runners missed one critical turn due to the placement of a chalk marking. No support on course, but that was anticipated. Race was free to all comers this year, but if repeated, there will be a nomimal registration fee for non-club-members. Last updated: 2017-08-14 12:00 AM

"Championship" race in inaugural "grand prix" series organized by my running club. Required to qualify for the series standings. I was pretty much locked into 2nd place in the "Grand Master" division of the series (M 50+)...mostly just needed to show up as a qualifying requirement. This was more than a little bit a test of how fully recovered I am from my dual hamstring injuries. Knew there was a chance of getting feet wet at either or both of two creek crossings, so I wore my old Saucony Hurricanes with my backup pair of Light Orthotics.
Just a short jog to test the old shoes and my hammies.
