Subject: 06.08.2020 - Muggy Monday Training Talk Good morning BT. I got a good look this morning at where I am and where I could be in my training (if I hadn't done about 10 virtual races in about 10 weeks). The training plan called for 6 x 3-minute progressive VO2Max intervals. They were 110% FTP, 120% FTP, 130% FTP, 130% FTP, 120% FTP, 110 FTP. The ideal of this work out is to make each interval harder so that you can see how much you can sustain for the repeatable 3-minute intervals. I did this same work out a year ago when I was just coming into my peak and was about to sustain about 125% FTP. I should be just coming into my peak now since my first scheduled race of the year would have been last Saturday and my A race would be in 6 weeks. I, however, hit my peak two months a am now is a valley (due to all those V-races). So today I was only able to sustain 110%. So I am down 15% from where I could be right now. My FTP was up 10% when I last tested in my peak two months ago, so I am still up 5% from last year but could by up another 15% if I were just starting to peak instead of past my peak. Have a Great Day. Oh...and it got really hot and muggy in Oklahoma over the last week. |
