Pre-race routine:

Got up at 4, ate my oatmela nad banana, and drove the 2:20 to the race

Rode about 1 mile, swam probably 200m .

Swim went much better than expected. Swam relatively straight. My goal was 9 min, so beat it by 22 sec.

Nothing too bad. Long run up from the lake. I didn’t wear the swim skin so nothing to take off.

Ride went well. Kept it right at the redline the whole way. Ddin’t leave much in the tank, but never blew up either.

Goal was 22:30, so beat this by a full minute. Again, kept it right at the redline, but remained steady and mile splits were pretty even.

Warm down:

Walked around for a few minutes, ate a banana and got in the car for the long drive home

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing. This went much better than expected and I felt great the whole way. Couldn’t have gone any faster

Event comments:

Good smaller race, especially given the Covid precautions. I may put this one back on my list to do every year despite the drive.
