Hi Bill,

It isn't a specific setting. To get single spacing type Shift+Enter instead of just Enter.

This is an issue for people using the Rich Text Editor so if you're wondering what menu bar Bill is talking about, go to your Control Panel , find the setting labelled "Use rich edit box when composing messages?" and set it to 'Yes' or 'TinyMCE Editor' and in your blog, the training log Goals sections and in the forums you'll get a toolbar that looks like one you'd find in Word.
