Subject: Any benefit in stationary bike?
I am planning on biking tomorrow but the weather doesn't look good for tomorrow or the rest of the week (except thursday when i have to be somewhere all day). I was wondering if its raining and storming if i would get any benefit in going to the gym and using the stationary bikes with the rubber loop clips as a replacement? If its not that good of an option i can always try to squeeze the ride in.

Cycling outdoors > wind/mag trainer rides > spin classes > lifecycle type equipment.

If you can't ride outdoors it is best to use an indoor trainer with your bike on it.  If you do not have that option, then taking a spin class is the next best thing and finally if there are no other options then getting some easy spinning done on an excercise bike at the gym is the last option.

If you are on some sort of training plan, follow it as to how much you ride.  If you are not, make sure to budget in rest and recovery sessions or you will not get the physiological gains that you are striving for.

Like Rick said, get an indoor trainer. I got mine on Nashbar.com - it's just their brand but it's a fluid trainer. With a coupon code, I think I paid a little over $100 for it. But if you have the cash, there are nicer ones to be found on sale. But mine does the job just fine.

I rode a stationary bike as you describe at our rec center almost exclusively this past winter from Dec07 through Apr08 and was able to hold my bike fitness well. In late Apr08 I went to Texas and took 2nd OA on the bike leg of a sprint after only riding my bike a couple times in five months. No doubt a trainer would be better but I work at home so I like to get out and see people at the rec center in the winter.

Cool, well glad that it is a viable option for keeping fitness. I thought there might be a chance that of me just looking silly and not benefitting much from it. And yes, I will be buying a trainer for sure sometime before it gets cold. Would the deals online be better now than they will be closer to "trainer" season? Or should i just wait for a used one on ST or here to go on sale nice and cheap.

I've got a trainer I need to get rid of.  If you want to try it out first I can drop it off sometime for ya.

I like spin classes, because they keep the training interesting.  Sitting on a trainer is really boring to me.

X2 on road > the trainer > spin class > stationary bikes.

and I really enjoy spin class...but...results from the trainer are hard to ignore

I think you should check out trainers now on craigslist or ebay instead of waiting until it gets cold out. I just got a barely used 2007 kurt kinetic road machine (fluid) three weeks ago on craigslist for $100! Woot! There are deals to be had right now. I felt like I was a bank robber taking that thing home. I have already put close to 150 miles on it, which is probably 100 more miles than it had on it.
