OK gang,

I have one for ya.. i'll be doing the NYC Men's Health Urbanathlon in September. They have added a new obstacle - the monkey bars ! add that to marine hurdles (5ft high) and the stairs, I was interested in finding out what type of gloves anyone would suggest I wear.
Last year I wore football gloves (the sticky on palm ones) - while they were great on the marine hurdles, they were more than useless on the stairs. What I would need is something that is good with sweat and can grip both steel and wood. Cycle and running gloves are no good for this type of event.

Maybe you can try baseball gloves?

Urbanathlon sounds pretty cool.

Good luck.

Gloves? Rub your hands with dirt and then spit on them, Sally.

Full finger mountain bike gloves? I hate half finger gloves as they slip all over the place, but full finger gloves are very useful. While you nixed cycling gloves, take a look at the palms of differnt ones. I have some Adidas gloves that grip like crazy and some fox ones that do well too. The Pearl fullies pretty much suck though.

Cool event...I always wondered why, though, there wasn't a women's version?

Fox mountain bike gloves. This will sound odd but another option would be those gardening gloves that are stretchy cotton but the palms are all blue rubber very sticky, it's what people use to climb the cables on the back of half dome i would try either of those two.

marine hurdles are like regular hurdles.. just 5 ft. high.. you have pull yourself up and over ..
