Anyone doing this on Saturday July 11.  I'm signed up for the 100 miler and plan on starting as early as possible.  Hope to see some familiar faces.  July 1 is the last  day for online sign up of $20, then sign up will have to be done on site July 11 with a cost of $30.

I really wanted to do this. I enjoy doing the tours and long distances.  There will be a group of greyhounds there but not Trish or myself.  That is the day of my son's wedding and I think they would frown if I showed up in my riding shorts and helmet.  I even promised to shower before the reception but it just wasn't accepted well.  Darn kids!

I could hook you up with some really cool and fast people to ride with.  They will probably be doing an 18-20mph pace, if not a little faster depending on the riders that show.

Kids wedding is no reason not to show up and get a good training day

I'm not sure if I can hold 18 for the entire 100 miles sounds a little intimidating since I've only done 80ish as my longest but I'd certainly like to try and it might be possible to hit 20 pulling in a pace line.  Would roadies except a guy on a tri bike ?  Of course I need to get an early start due to a party I have to attend in the afternoon.

Tri bikes are socially unacceptable on tours but if your tri bike has a strong ego, they would probably let you hang with them. From what I am told and I can't hang with these guys, drafting off each other in a pace line makes the speeds much easier.  There is one other guy that I usually ride with going and he lets me set the pace and we usually have a good time and I'm able to do the distance.  Mind you, 100k is my farthest so far.

Likely not, unless you promise to stay on the brakes the whole time.  I wouldn't feel comfy riding a 20mph paceline with someone I've never ridden with behind me in the bars

That being said, not all the greyhound groups that do these tours use pace lines.  Trish did metro grand on her tri bike and was just fine but we didn't do a pace line but she did draft a lot off me, because she's like that.

You may want to talk to JHagerman. He was going to do the 100 grand on his tri bike with his fellow hounds.  I don't know if he went.

This is an interesting idea...though I'm p[rolly too slow for you Rottie.  I like using my tri bike for long rides purely for the comfort level of my arms.  I need to assess the "plan" and see what's what for that day

I'd do half of it with you rottie, but i'm already doing that with someone a bit slower.  I'm thinking our pace will be 15-16ish

aaaaaand she is NOT an early riser.

Kimm the slower speed would be fine, but the lateness is bad!  I have a party that starts at noon with the members of my tech rescue team and just hope to be able to make it home and clean up before heading out and making it around 3 (there's beer and firefighters so they'll be there late, but I don't want to miss the food

So delays are bad as our big groups.  I'm not sure I'd ride with roadies that don't trust me it would add to much stress.  And of course unless I need to do a bunny hops  from my aero bars I can steer my Softride around pretty much anything on the road, it's all I've known for the last 10+ years.

I can't actually think about moving onto a new bike because it scares the sh`t  outta of me to leave what I know, even thou I have DA parts finally failing after all these beautiful years together.

Maybe when K goes back for her beauty I'll go for a fitting just for informational purposes only or maybe a Felt B2
