My Daugher is considering joining the Navy and would like a female Sailor to bounce some questions off.  I am Retired Navy but have been out for over 10 years.  Please PM me if you would take some time to chat with her.

I worked with one woman who was blown overboard from jet blast. It was a long way down. She didn't re-enlist.

I did 6 years in the Navy, but it was a different Navy back in the early 90's.  I don't think I barely saw a handful of female Sailors the whole time I was in because they weren't allowed on Combatants.

Now as a Dad, if my daughter wanted to join the military I'd probably direct her to the Chair Force because it's about the safest with the Navy coming in second.

My wife is a Navy Doc, Academy Grad, and has been in for over 20. PM me and I'll set your daughter up with her email address so she can get her questions answered.Chris

I'm betting it won't be long until they are.  The first woman supply officer just got her dolphins.  Very cool.

Hi - I am not a sailor, but I occassional speak like one.   I do, however, have a colleague who enlisted out of highschool and spent 14 years serving in the Navy.    I don't know everything she did, but she did some medical technician work for a while, went on a boat all over the world, served in the first gulf war, recieved alot of education, and taught leadership training classes.    Now that she is in the private sector, she is an excellent manager and leader (not the same - but both skill sets are needed).   We are lucky to have her.    I respect the organization and the skills they teach their people, and it appears that the women get the same benifits out of that training.

Best of luck to your daughter.
