So Fresh So Clean - 2006-12-30 2:14 PM Also please note, I have never been 20lb overweight, but I have been 10lb (I gain that every off season). I lose 10lb in two weeks by swimming 5x/week for 90min.
Wow ... thats awesome ! Going green with envy ...
But seriously , to the OP question , if you are real interested in losing the weight , having been thru' a similar patch a while back and kinda going thru' it again now , here's a couple of pointers that I'd like to share:
- stick to your plan . it doesn't matter how monotonous it is or how slow you are (if you are , that is)
- try and eat healthy , but beyond this , control your portions ! that , i have found , is key to losing weight . For eg. if you get a sandwich for lunch , slice it in half and see if you can manage on just the half ... usually u can do just fine .
- drink water (lots of it ) to curb the appetite and also to stay hydrated
- eat mini-meals during the day , like fruit and such healthy stuff
BTW , if you want to stay motivated on the weight loss , then check out the Tri for weightloss forum (not sure of the exact name) . Its quite useful and they usually have a challenge going on that you can join. Very simple to keep tabs on how you are doing on a weekly basis and see how many others are in a similar boat as you are .
Also, if you need motivation on the workouts , join a challenge here . I have found the accountability to your team and your goals ensures that you workout regularly or at least the guilt is there if you don't
Trust me , it can be done . I've gone from 225 down to 185 in the matter of 6-7 months or so (and up to 205 but thats a diff. story ) and had the best fitness level that i can remember in a long while .
Good Luck !
(Caveat: Hopefully these pointers help you as they did me but then again , everyone is different ...)
