Subject: iPod help

I need a new iPod. I've had my iPod Mini for almost 4 years and I LOVE it. I'm sad to see it go. The battery doesn't last anymore and Apple has already replaced it once.

Which one? I don't want the regular as it doesn't hold up when working out. Is there a difference with the video? I don't need video. I don't like the shuffle as it doesn't do playlists.

iPod geeks help!

I too loved my mini and was sad to see if finally give up the ghost.

I went to the shuffle and am pretty happy with it.

FWIW: You can do a playlist on the shuffle. (But not multiples like on the mini) This means I have to sync up more often to change what I am listening to.

Maybe the Nano is more what your looking for.

I just saw the new Nano at the Apple store and they look suh-weeeet! i have a 30G video and it is too big for workouts. Kinda wish I had a Nano/shuffle for running.

The new Nano does video and is made for working out.

You can also look at the iPod Touch as it also uses flash memory, but does not work with the nike+ and is bigger.

I'm 0 for 2 with the nano's right now and pissed.  One appears to have shorted out during a sweaty 18 miler despite being in a workout type dryfit arm strap.  Its dead to the world.  The other one is possessed.  It will power up all on its own and play tunes at max volume until the battery runs out.  It does it whether I slide that hold switch over or not.

For as good as the Apple brand name has been, I've been sorely disappointed.

Maybe I should just find a Mini at an online discount retailer (still buy it new) so I can stick with it?

Whats the difference between the Nano and Nano Video? I found an 8G Nano at Amazon for $242, or the new Nano Video for $200. Why is the video cheaper?

I don't think I want the Touch screen. It seems like it would be too sensitive and I don't like keeping them on "lock" all the time as I use it to look at songs, time, etc when running.

I don't care about the Nike+ features; I use a Garmin.

The reason you are seeing the differences in price is because the OLD iPod 8gig was more expensive.  They dropped the prices on the new ones.  There is really no reason to get an old one.

As for the others having problems, all apple iPods have a full 1 year warranty on them.  Everything can have issues, just goto apple.com/support and get them to send you a new one

New nano >>>> mini.  Smaller, color, nike +, no moving parts.  The mini has a good old hard drive so technically is not made to be ran with.

I got the 4 gb Nano last year for X-mas.  I use it every single day at work and for when I go running.  It has been perfect.  Plus at <$200 it is replacable if something were to happen.

I know you said you don't like the shuffle, but really it is a dream for running.  It weighs NOTHING and you just clip it on your shorts or the bottom of your T shirt and go.   You can't even tell it is there.

I like my shuffle also.  I don't find it to be a big deal to re-sync playlists; I just do it while I'm on the computer doing something else - like now.
