I'm happy I'm in this. I don't know if I'll make it (hopefully) since I don't love the bike, but it will make me stronger.

367 miles left.

I hope you get stronger and maybe you'll love to bike!

I'm different I always want to ride more and my coach holds me back...only way I could do this is I'm off work for 5 weeks and have more time to rest/recover.

Done with 67...333 more to go.

A guy at work wants to show me a route he and his buddy do called the punisher...sounds fun! He says it is uphill both ways...not sure how it possible, but he is a serious cyclist so if he says it is hard I'm sure it is.

315 to go.  Hoping this is a big weekend for me.

I might ride past the pool and try to swim by proximity.  That OWS next Saturday is getting harder with every mile I ride.  Gulp.

I am amazed that I have learned to love my bike. I love the swimming and biking. I'll need to do a running challenge later this year to help me learn to love running.

Only 36 chipped off 400. Bad start to July with a 5 day family reunion 8 hours away from my bike. Am really trying to like biking, but still have my heart in swimming and running. i'm thinking it's the routes.

i ride on a crowded bike trail that crosses a street every half mile, so it's hard to get up any speed/rhythm. i also have a fear of riding alone, way out in the middle of no where, and getting a flat. old bike with no fixing kit isn't a good combo.

still working on loving "pinky"

30/400 - 370 to go
basically I have the next 2 weeks to do it, since I am leaving town on 24th for a month
tomorrows 120 mile ride will put a good dent in it but i will have to stay focused and work hard for the next 2 weekends after as well

On the 4th I found myself in a spot where I needed to go about 1 mile on a 2 lane state route that is usually very busy.  I was pretty nervous going into it and wished I had thought about where I was going a little more.  I got to the road and ended up taking it about 5 miles because it was such an enjoyable ride.  Granted it was 6am on July 4th, but my point is if you get out early enough in the morning riding on the open roads can be more enjoyable than when a lot of people try to ride in the mid day or afternoons.

  • Part of the joy I get from riding into work. Not too many people out. And believe me, I can understand the traffic issues. I live in the suburbs of Philadelphia, so it's hard to find any routes that are good.

Gmaps-pedometer.com has become my new best training friend!

64.5 miles down.. 335.5 miles to go...

Not sure if I'll be able to make 400 but I'll give it my best shot. The excuses I've come up with so far include: Tapering for first olympic on july 16th, going to bermuda for a long weekend, and.. and.. crap, I need more excuses!!

thanks for the advice on the early morning; i got my bum up today at 6am to ride, and it was empty just about everywhere. had a really great ride of 20ish to add to the tally; wanted to go longer by my training partner's bike was having issues. have a long swim this afternoon and a brick tomorrow, so this weekend should help my totals.

This challenge is great; it is forcing me to get out there and ride. Ran (sucked wheel ;-) with the big dogs on a club ride. Add another 67 miles. 180/400 - 45%

20k TT this morning (+5.3 mile warmup and .7 mile cooldown) leaves me at 348/400.

I don't know if I'll make it but I'm going to try my hardest. Whatever I do will probably be my highest mileage in a month for almost a year. I'll take it.

    Triple Bypass group ride yesterday
    120 miles
    3 Colorado mountain passes
    10,310 feet of uphill
cold pouring rain the whole way, that forced many riders to quit
I almost was one of them, this challenge is part of the reason I finished
    150/400 (37.5%) done, 250 miles to go

Another record ride for me. For what it's worth, I am starting to love riding my bike which I never loved before a month ago. Is the pain in my neck normal... I am not used to riding 2+ hours. Is it going to go away...

    133 miles down.....267 to go..

TriOk...unless you are the sole player on our 500 mile challenge, there seems to be an error on your milleage...

    Happy Riding.

    Don't hate me:

255.6 miles down so far in the 1st week.  It's not my fault that my build week & IM MOO Scouting week fell at the beginning of the month.

TriOK is onto something.  You can always win if you're the only one doing it.  I'm doing the 423 mile challenge!

i think i'm at the lowest mileage out of everyone at 70.5 so far, and today is a scheduled day off, so i have to resist the urge to go out and add on more miles.

argh...my only saving grace is that this month's mileage will easily top last month.

Gimme a break, guys!  I am on vacation!  You expect me to rack up the miles and then COHERENTLY add them together?  Geez....

    Happy Riding everyone!

273 to go.  This week will be light as I prep for a swim on Sat but I plan on coming back stronger the last two weeks.  Not ridiculous/bad for you overtraining, but just a stronger focus on the bike and possibly my first 50+ ride thrown in there.  I had hoped to do that last Sat but I got a late start and had to get home in time to get breakfast for the munchkins.

    I'm at 97, 303 to go....last week was a rest week and I had a 5K though.

A week from now I should have 170 more miles as the next 7 days are big bike days.

Awesome job everyone....so should we be at about 133 miles today if our plans laid out evenly..
