How you going?
yep also from WA down mandurah way (secret harbour) one of theruns I really enjoy is running from Secret harbour via Port kennedy to Point Peron along the coastline views are awesome with a bit of coast line. As far as riding goes I either do a few laps to port Kennedy or else along the bike path next to the freeway, thats quite challenging with a breeze blowing. look forward to hearing from you.

Hey...I live in Margaret River...

Road riding is nice and hilly here, with narrow shoulders so always on the alert.

Sometimes will hike up to Busselton for some long rides there on the flat.

Also enjoy riding my MTB through the rail trails down here...awesome fun.

What suburb do you live in?

Yup, that'll be my first too, all going well I might even join SPLERPH down there next DEC.
Good luck to him this weekend if he's reading this.

Hi, I am in Kambalda, just south of Kalgoorlie.  Have just gotten involved with triathlon the last couple of months and I am hooked.  I did a triathlon for women a couple of weeks ago, and my first club tri last weekend with the Kalgoorlie Tri Club.  Great bunch of people!

Is anyone else from WA just starting out?

G'day Nyrelle,

hey good to hear from Kambalda,  I'm basically starting out this year as I missed out on last season due to remote work.  Managed to do the Karri Valley the year before the short course as I've never swam 500 metres non stop before.  So last year was basically swimming training running and riding and now I'll get a chance to see how all that effort went.  And I agree Tris are definitely good fun!

chat soon Mark

Hi Nyrelle and all the other WA folks

I did the women's tri a couple of weeks ago too, had a ball but forgot all my swimming training and went too fast and was gasping for the rest of the swim.  Am now training for the Rockingham tri in December.  Having just done a sprint, the idea of an OD or half IM seems a long long way away, but OD is definately a goal.  Live in Nedlands so around the river is my main run/cycle route.  Have only swum in a pool, does any one know where it's good in the sea for a nervous-nellie, only learnt to swim a few years ago, to practise her swimming?

Greetings Daisymouse,

I've been led to believe that the area at the Rocky beach is pretty good, that's where the Rocky Trystars is run for the Kids as well as the seniors, won't know myself until 30th November,  but it's a pretty sheltered area without all the swell and rips further down Singleton/Secret Harbour way.  I've basically done most of my training in the pool as well the only open water i've done so far was down Karri Valley hope this helps?

cheers mark

Hey Mark,

Sorry I didn't mean to not reply to your question before, I never get on the forums, I always just message people. I did well enough for my first half, went out way too hard on the bike, read my race report if you would like.

He he I grew up in Kalgoorlie and had lots of friends in Kambalda so I was always there. We used to walk from east ... to west ... then back to east again LOL

I went back to Kal to work as well, 2003 - 2005. I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for that place

Welcome to BT!

I don't do much open water swimming, usually just when I am racing! I live near Hillarys so I usually swim there, but there's lots of stingers

I have realised I've got to bite the bullet and planning to swim at City Beach once a week, only way I'm going to get comfy in the ocean is to swim in it.

Hi daisymouse

Nice to get a good report on the Challenge course, you must be enjoying it to do one course followed by another - you can't get a better ad than that.

Good luck with the Rockingham Tri and see you in January

Kelly :-)

I want to do Rockingham, its a great race. I haven't signed up yet but prolly will soon. I'll be working 10 X 10 hour days in a row (OK I have one day off inbetween all those days) just before the tri so I'll be totally buggered.

Which distance are you thinking of doing?

Morning,  did the rocky club sprint on the weekend and the water leg wasn't too bad even for a first timer, fairly shallow not much in the way of current or swell, actually nothing  reckon you'll do it easy same as a pool swim just no black line
