Let them grasp at straws to fix there problems. Yes I know this is a big straw. This is why it is a TEAM sport, unfortunately the Yanks have had too deep a pocket and can buy World Series rings. I know one thing, after the Pats one there first Super Bowl I felt empty with a now what attitude. After this one I am waiting for next season but have some baseball to watch first. As a true fan of lost causes ( Cubs and Redsox, yes last season hurt) I know they are always there to remind me that spring is just around the corner. I am getting all excited, just watched Field of Dreams. Soon I will watch Bull Durham and the Rookie. I love the youthful exuberance of spring. The fall penant race starts to remind me of work. Steiny paid a lot of money for coming in second. Meanwhile, A-Rod can go to the Yankers. It will free up the Ranger's payroll and maybe they can actually pick up some real pitching. Then again, no one oever accused the Texas Rangers management of being smart either. THEY managed to alienate Nolan Ryan, of all people. |

Texas is even going to pay some of his contract. It sucks that the Yankees have to give up Soriano but he strikes out to much anyways. Gotta love those deep pockets. |

Small market teams have next to no chance to compete. And if they do, it's one good year and then the new stars move on for the big money. But don't expect a change anytime soon. In the end tho, all it did was strengthen Steinny's resolve to buy the best team money can buy. I am almost afraid to go listen to my favorite sports talk radio (it only comesin in the car). I bet Red Sox Nation is having a fit! |

The Yankers will pay $112mil for the remaining 7 years on his contract. There is something disproportionately wrong here. Additonally, did Texas really need another second baseman? Texas screwed themselves on this deal. It's a wonder they make money at all. "Buy high. Sell low." |

Basketball does nothing for me. Celtics who? Almost the same as the Bruins, but I do love hockey. The NHL has just gotten so stale the last few years. BTW, I loved you comment about "hope springs eternal" with regards to the beginning of baseball and stress/penant race being like work. Good points for me to remember. GamblerZ, sure looks like Hicks got played for a fool. While I haven't read or listened to too much of the details (just the thought of it makes me sick) it just makes no sense for him to be paying ANYTHING to lose the "best player in baseball." I did hear that he'll go to 3rd and Jeter will stay at SS. I had been wondering about that because that same issue had caused a lot of stress in the Sox organization. So A-Rod's salary is more than the entire Expo lineup! Good grief! |
