I noticed a deal on a desktop... has anyone ever gone and waited for a ticket for their doorbuster sales? It say they open at 5am and hand out tickets 2 hours before. My question is... is it worth it? Or do people get there at midnight and it would be a waste of time?

Curious if anyone has been there and done that.

Elizabeth

Lat year I flew (worked on a helicopter) over our local Best Buy on Thanksgiving night and there were tents and people in sleeping bags laid out on the sidewalk all the way around the building.  I think it would be a waste of time.

My sister is a Store Manager at Best Buy in Florida.  She has to get to work at 3am and says that there is at least 20 to 30 people already there.  There is the potential to save several hundreds of dollars and I guess you have to decide if that money is worth the time of staying out all night.

Thanks... I figured it would be pretty packed. Hmmm time is money... yet $400 for a few hours is pretty darn good.

if you really want it, you gotta get there ridiculously early.  i went with my sister b/c she wanted a laptop and we got there at 1am and there was already a super long line.  the first people got there at 8pm the day before to get the big ticket items.  basically had thanksgiving dinner in line, lol.

Make sure you look at the ad closely. There will probably be a note saying "minumum X units per store" (and that number usually isn't very big, like 3). So weigh the possibility that you likely wouldn't even GET the item you're standing in line for... If you've got a list of several items and you'd be saving a pretty large sum on each, then it might be worth it. Staying all night for one item with a good chance it wouldn't even be available? Not my idea of a night well spent.

I camped out at an Office Depot to get a deal on a lap top last year, not nearly as many people as at the Best Buys . I got there at 1 in the morning and stayed in my car till I saw one person get in line, then I got out and camped out , that was about 3 and the store opened at 7 .
Was it worth it? I saved at least $200 so yeah to me it was

They were in line for TOMMOROW at about 7 am TODAY at the best buy in Brandon FL...I think I would rather spend my thanksgiving with my family than sleeping on concrete in front of  store.
