For anyone planning to do the Oshkosh Oly on 8/9, the bike course is going to be 6 miles longer due to road construction.  A map will be posted later this week.

I had the race on my calendar, but I decided I didn't feel like a 3/4 mile swim and a 28 mile bike. Now it's going to be 34 miles? I noticed a lot of triathlons in the state are skewed this way, with extra short swims and extra long bikes. Must be the biking culture we have here.

Personally I like more balanced races, because the bike is the least interesting part. You just hammer at as constant a power as you can and then you're done. And you can't go all-out in the bike or else you'll screw up your run. The swim and run are much more fun, because you can use tactics more and equipment has less of an impact on the outcome.

I'm sorry, all I heard was "waaah, waaah, I don't like to bike, waaah, waaah"

Ok, so would it make you feel any better to know that I heard the swim is 1500m, so basically a mile?  The course is going to be 1500m/34m/10K as of this moment.  Check back with me tomorrow. Maybe it will change again.

For what it is worth, I am a poke in the water and on the bike. My only prayer is the run and I am usually gassed by then.  Just have fun.....it's not like you are qualifying for the Olympics you know.

Yep that does makes me feel better. Actually I think I was more annoyed before by the shortening of the swim rather than the lengthening of the bike. If they're back up to 1500 m, then I'm happy.

well some of ye donkeys are blessed with wind at your backs on bikes...moi? I've decided that either my brakes are rubbing the whole way or I've got legs made out of heavy tons of lead.

I was toying with doing the oly again but now that its all getting longer, I don't think I'll be trained up enough...so the sprint is lookin' more like a respectable competitively challenging race. (say that 10 times fast )
