Subject: How do you clean aero bar pads?

The elbow pads on my aero bars have been soaking up my sweat for months and are getting sticky and gross.  Can I clean them with water?  Simple green?  Dish soap?  Hose?  I wipe down the rest of the bike with a rag and simple green, but not sure about how to get the salt and oil out of the pads.  Thanks for any suggestions.

I would think about tossing them into the wash next time you are washing workout clothes.  Or checking the manufacturer's website.

I've soaked mine in some water with some Woolite mixed in. Rinse them and hang them up to dry.

Toss in the wash, not in the dryer though. Wink

Do you wash your workout clothes?  I'm not on the bars so much that they get rank, but if I was, I would not appreciate spending a good part of my ride with my face that close to the stinky pads. If I can smell it in the cool of the house, the heat of ride is just going to make it that much worse.

Thanks for all the replies.  They don't really smell, it's that they're sticky and feel gross.  I hosed them off, sprayed on some simple green and let it soak in, then hosed again and blotted dry with a towel.  Much better.

And maybe I haven't tried hard enough, but when I pull up on the pads, there is adhesive that comes up, not velcro, so to take them off I'd have to get more of the adhesive tape and I'm not sure I want to mess with that.
