Subject: Open water swim groups - Westchester/Putnam
Hi,
Just wondering if there are any groups out there that have open water swims in Westchester or Putnam or even Dutchess Counties.  I live in Pawling and work in Stamford, CT. would like to find a group to swim with this spring.

Thanks
Alex

White Pond seems to be the go-to place (in Kent/Carmel area).  I swam there all last summer and it is great - I'm not sure what groups meet up there at what time, but I'm sure they're out there!

what is the LBS Tri Club?

I believe Thursday nights down in Rye there are open water swims from Playland. I would contact the Rye Y for details on that. I think it is joined with Team in Training?

Our group of ladies ( and some men) from Northern Westchester swim in Lake Mahopac come the warm weather..sometimes we also go to White Pond---my first time there was last summer..It was very intimidating for me..I thankfully had some strong swimmers around me.  I was a newb swimmer last  year so some of the OWS were a little"panicky" for me.  White Pond is very quiet and a good place to practice while Lake Mahopac could get a little crazy on the weekends..one thing for sure..the earlier the better!!

Our group although not a formal group is a friendly bunch so feel free to join.

Thanks for all of the input!  I am definitely interested in swimming at White Pond.  I did some kayaking there a few years ago it is great without worrying about motorized vehicles...
