There seems to be a reecurring theme in my posts, PREGNANCY. It seems to be taking over Heroin chic as the new black.
Any who, my sister is due today for her first rug rat, and I think as the older brother, a gift of some sort is appropriate. Any suggestions?

Do a web search of Silky! It is the best blanket ever and will run you about $60....both my kids had/have them and love them....they never wear out and come in cool prints....Sophie has cow flannel backed with lilac satin and Bennie has vintage airplane flannel backed with navy satin....classy and practical.

Babysitting and a coupon for a night out and no, I am not kidding. It will give you more baby practice and give them relief. No, they won't get why they will appreciate that in a couple months now but they will soon. My Jo Bots (JJ) is screaming in Dad's arms at the moment and I could use a nice night away (he is almost 1. Wow, that was quick).

Barring a night out clothe diapers. They are wonderful for burp rags and snuggle rags and cleaning up god knows what rags. No one thinks of them and they are a lifesaver!

Just no cute outfits unless they are for 6 months or over. They have plenty I am sure.

Depends on how much you wanna spend.  I think the play gyms or mobiles are great.

The babysitting voucher is a great one too.  I think whatever gift you get you should include that as well.

I always give books.  Goodnight Moon and Pat the Bunny are always good choices.  Is it too early?  Yes, but I want to be the person to give a child his  first book.

a gift that I like to give is a little medicine kit that includes baby tylenol and a baby thermometer and things like that, because inevitably, the baby will run her first fever in the middle of the night (teething or whatever) and it will save them a trip to the 24-hour store in the middle of the night. But since you're the brother, I like the idea of the silky blanket mentioned above. My sons all had special blankets that they slept with until they were a lot older, and we refer to the one as the "Grandma blanket" or "Aunt Martha" blanket, based on who gave it to them. See, you could have a blanket named after you!

Me too!  I'm known as the "Aunt who gives books".  But, then again, I was probably the only 2 year old in my family with her own very-full-bookshelf.    Ahh... biblio-olism starts early, doesn't it.

When my BF's neice was born, we got her a nice set of Bedtime Stories (the classics) and a nice set of the Pooh Series books.

Ohhh the pooh bear series is a great idea.  I was given a box set Winne the Pooh Bear books when I was a baby and its still on my book shelf now.

And also the best book from when I was a kid is still in the bookshop I saw it the other day.

Hairy McClairy from Donaldsons Dairy!!
