Has anyone built a homemade bike rack? Not to just hold the bike but to elevate and stabilize the bike so you can do work on it. Any suggestions? Pics? Any links for instructions?I, like most people spend a lot of money on this sport so I am looking to save a few bucks. Thanks

You can buy a nice, basic repair stand for $80.  It's the way I would definitely go.

Do you have a bike rack for your car? I often use that instead of my repair rack.

Thanks for info and the link! Also I did not realize I could get one for 80 bucks , that's not bad because I thought they were a few hundred. Thanks

Yeah, I looked up the Park PCS-1, it's their cheap one, but it actually clamps really well on aero seatposts.

x2

I also use my trainer when it won't get in the way.  Often I can replicate problems better when I'm using my trainer that I can't without.

Funny that you ask this question because I was just looking into this over the weekend and found what seems to be a really good option.  I have yet to actually build it, but was hoping to get to it over the next couple of weeks.

If you end up building something be sure to reply back to the group as I'd love to hear how it works out.

I built this one last year and it has worked out really well. I took the parts list to home depot and the guy there walked around with me and helped gather everything I needed. The only problem is that it's kinda big and doesn't fold up, but it serves it's purpose perfectly.
