Are the Gran Fondo's in Ontario frequented more by competitive folks or completion folks?

I'll be doing the Centurion Canada C50 and it will be a completion thing for me.

Looking at the results to last years on Sportstats, it would seem that there is both groups that participate.

If its a timed event with traffic control like Centurion then you'll have a good mix of both. Events that aren't timed and have no traffic control can't be "raced" so there will be lots of people just looking to finish or use it as a good long training ride.

I recommend Centurion. I did the C50 (miles) last year at Blue Mountain and it's the most fun on a bike I've ever had.

Just curious, what made it so much fun?

Have never done one but they sound interesting and seem to attract a large number of riders. Guessing there has to be something to it to make the entry fee worthwhile.

Do they have limits on numbers?

Not sure about other gran fondos but Centurion has no limit on the number of people.

Because they're point to point events and the number of people is why I like Centurion so much. It kinda feels like your riding a stage in the Tour de France. Lot's of drafting, taking turns "pulling" at the front of the group, trying to catch "breaks" up ahead and nice 3-5km climbs. But if you're there just to ride it you don't have to do any of that if you don't want to. There's also the expo and free food that goes along with it

I did the C100 last year and had a blast. It was my first cycling event and it truly is an event.

Hard work, but signed up again this year with some more friends.

There's definitely hills. If you go on the Centurion website they have maps with profiles that show all the elevation changes.

I was going to describe the whole route at Centurion Blue Mountain but I see they've changed the C50 map and maybe the C100. So a little different for this year.

Interesting, they have changed the map for the C50 the last time I've looked for sure.

And just checking my MapMyRide, they've change the C100 for sure as well.  Just seems to affect the in and out of the resort proper.
