Subject: RE: NOVA and cool scienceI've read that this polarity switch has happened before, and perhaps several times. I guess over the course of several billion years, anything is possible. I think it actually resulted in the invention in the 1870's of the Tate compass, by an Australian gentleman named Harvey Tate. He found that by some peculiarity his new compass always pointed to magnetic South...giving rise to the common expression, "He who has a Tate's is lost." |
