Apparently my seat has been slowly sinking into my frame over the summer.  I found a picture from spring where my seat is 3/4" higher than it is now.  Do I move it back up for my last race or slowly raise it back?  I have put tape on it to mark its location from now on.  I am going on vacation, so there will be only 1-2 more training rides before my last oly.

3/4" of an inch is not that big of a change. I would move it back where it should be. If you are really worried - split the difference. Cheers.

My opinion is different. I think 3/4" is a pretty big change. I'd wait until after the last race.

X2, 3/4" is huge when looking at seat height, especially when seat height changes can be as small as a few millimeters. A question for the OP, are you uncomfortable? Did you notice the change because you suspected something felt "off" and went back and looked at pictures OR did you happen to be looking at older pictures and noticed that it was different? If it was the first option then I'd put it back or close to it. If it was the second option then I'd probably leave it until after the race.

X3!!! This is huge in terms of seat adjustment. Leave it be at this point until after the race then tiny incremental changes...

It doesn't look like your bike milage is so high that you would have a problem moving the seat back to the correct height.  I have a similar problem with my roadie.  I have to move it back up every few rides.  One suggestion if this is a carbon seat tube, is to get some carbon paste.  You can pick this up at your local bike shop.  It just gives the carbon post some "grit" so it can hold it's height.  very cheap, but fixes the problem of sliding carbon posts.   (I just bought some last weekend.  After a recommendation from my fitter.

I'm going with the move it all now camp.  It was there for a reason.  IMHO, seat hieght adjustments do not take as long to adapt as say spacer adjustments.

So, move it all now, go for a training ride and assess.  If uncomfortable, move down slightly for next ride and assess.

On a side note, I see you did/(were to do) the wheelie fun series.  Is your next race Portage?  I'm planning to do that one as well.  Good luck to ya!

Move it now!  The same thing happened to me earlier this year and I ended up having ITB problems because my leg wasn't fully extending.  Move it now and avoid this happening.  I actually felt a lot better riding with my seat where it was supposed to be.

I'd move it now before your last couple of rides.

It happened to me on my Tarmac but not gradual. Moving it to the proper height felt so much better. You will transfer power better.

Bring a bike tool with you on your next ride and see if the correct height feels okay..if not adjust your seat height.

Put it back now, riding with a seat too low can only cause you problems. Not to mention lower power returns.

Yes, I am in the Wheelie Fun series and my last race is Portage Lakes.  I am in the points lead for the XL2 Clydesdale group.  I would hate to not make a change and lose out on power, or make a change that results in a loss of power.

I am going with the majority and make the adjustment back to where it was and makes some rides.  We are leaving on vacation and I wasn't going to take the bike.  But maybe I will afterall.

Thanks for your help

Wow,

I can really tell I have so much more to learn about tri's.  Still a newbie and won't race my first Sprint Tri unitl Sept 14th, 2008 .... I wouldn't have thought 3/4" would make a difference at all...

... the last time I was concerned that much about whether a 3/4" difference would make a big change in my performance was way back when I was in high school........... Laughing
