Registration for IM 09
On Monday, 2009 registration will begin at 9:00 am. Those who volunteer during the 2008 race will have a priority sign-up opportunity.
2008 volunteers must arrive and present their volunteer t-shirt and/or wristband (still intact) as well as provide photo ID to be granted access to a separate line. This priority line will be the first to go through the registration process.  Captains will supply a list to Ironman to verify who the actual volunteers were, to avoid any misuse of this nice benefit.  They are hoping to use this benefit as a way to leverage greater volunteer participation numbers, as some areas are difficult to staff.
Also:
Volunteer party
The volunteer party is all set for Monday, September 8 at the Monona Terrace in Exhibit Halls A & B with doors opening at 5:15, food served at 5:30, and a short program at 6:00 (food and drink is provided free of charge). It's a nice evening and I hope many of you can make it.  Due to the Packers/Vikings Monday Night Football game that evening, they are still working on the entertainment aspect of the event, and are looking into the possibility of broadcasting the game.  They usually play a video of film shot on Sunday of the athletes, and one of volunteers at the party and distribute DVDs to those present.  Others who want a video can email requests to the local office (I'll send info on that later when I get it, but last year it was $3).

My sources say that if you show up by 9 am, you are pretty much guarunteed to get a spot.  You get a "golden" ticket (which is actually white) with a code and a date time frame in which to sign on to and pay on Active.com.  No payment at time of getting slot.

From one of my leads:

"

Weather is looking pretty good for Sunday, although possible isolated thunderstorms.
Have an update for those signing up for Ironman Wisconsin 2009 on Monday.  Besides checking in at the beginning of your shift with one of the captains, <1TT edited out>, you will also need to check out with us at the end of your shift.  One of the main reasons for allowing volunteers to have a separate line to register is to encourage more people to volunteer at Ironman Wisconsin;  as a result, 500 more have volunteered this year at Wisconsin than last year.  In order for this privilege to continue and not be abused, Ironman Wisconsin Staff have asked the Captains to establish procedures to ensure that this privilege remains fair to all.
I'll see most of you Sat Morning at 8:00AM and the rest on Sunday.  Don't forget the Volunteer party Monday Night at 5:30PM at Monona Terrace (usually can get good buys at the Ironman Store).  Packer/Viking game will be on.  Also, In the past volunteers received a DVD of Ironman Wisconsin.
Looking forward to a great Ironman Weekend."
