finally, my favorite band has delivered...Metallica's "Death Magnetic" is an ear-searing example of how metal is supposed to be done.  Put that on the Ipod for last night's trainer ride, and had an awesome ride.  It's been 17 years (wow) since they put out what I consider a decent album (the Black Album...yep, 1991), but they exceeded my expectations with the latest.  I even heard snippets of influence from other bands in the music...Pantera and Ministry (one guitar riff is right off off the song New World Order).  It's nice to be able to just rock n' ride!    Going into winter, I'm going to need the inspiration.

This is the music industry they supported. The only group I will "steal" music from. Talented yes, but they can rot in h-e-double hockeystick.

For all the hype about that album i figured it was all right...i think metallica is on drugs if they think that is good....or they are just off in their own world with thier crappy new "metal" taste. They need a taste of some of the good metal out there...then they can make a new album and say...."yeah we f'ed up"
The new slipknot album wrecks theirs....they're wasnt any god dam Much Music (much music sucks) hype or anything about it because they know slipknots fans would love it. hahaha anyways.... i workout and train to metal a the time, thenew metallica is just frustrating.

It's not a matter of respect; it's amatter of taste.  I love "The End of the Line" and "Broken, Beat, and Scarred."  I'd agree about FFDP and Killswitch Engage being very good; however many of the others you mentioned just aren't my favs; most are decent enough though.  One in particular, Slipknot I cannot stand.  I prefer metal bands who have a frontman who can actually sing with some semblance of melody.  Just a personal preference, but gutteral yelps and growls posing as singing do not impress me.  Probably just an era thing.  Others on the Ipod are Judas Priest, Danzig, Fight (Rob Halford fan I guess), Iron Maiden ("Run to the Hills" always good to get the blood flowing), Rammstein, and Megadeth.  Old school, but to each their own.  I'll still keep 90-95 RPM on the bike happy as can be.    Cheers.

I'm with you Rick - definitely old school Metallica sounding as good as in the day.

Definitely sounds like Jyles16 has his age in his username, because my youngest (16 yrs old) said the same thing about Death Magnetic; absolutely hated it and tried to compare it to the Black album (one of his faves), and his txt typing skills are about on par with Jyles16; dood, punctuation and capitals don't cost a thing.

To hijack a hijack, I do like to see the yung'uns still listening to "classics"; my son plays in two bands that span several metal genres from black to folk and it's cool to see a garage full of 16 yr olds bang out the classics right along with the new crap.

first of all...capitals are useless..... so is punctuation.......i really like draggin these dots

I listen to all music..floyd, queen, acdc, tom petty, coldplay its all good....just the tunes i listed before are solid for really giviner on the bike or run if yur alone. Definately not glued into one genre of tunes....i love them all.... just certain rocks for certain times. Techno is solid too!!

Im on a laptop and dont take the time to reveiw my brutal spelling or grammar errors..... 19yo btw.....i was once 16, had nearly the same opinion towards music back then..... oh yeah theres a lot of crappy metal...and your right i hate the crappy screaming bulldiarrhea too but the good metal and good metal shows cant be touched!!

haha id like to see metallica put on a death magnetic concert.... ten bucks they get sniped

hehehahahoho

'tis true. nor do pronouns (he/it), vowels (e), and verbs (is).
maybe compounding multiple sentences with nested semi-colons is more "old school"?

Seriously, though, thanks to all for the tip on riding tunes...

Oh, and "Broken, Beat, and Scarred" has given me a new (well not new, but with a musical twist)mantra while I run: "What don't kill you make you more strong."
