Do you think the Tour (or cycling in general) has turned the corner on this?

I won't hold my breath, but I am pleased that nothing has come up yet.

Do you think it ain't happening?

I hope people have stopped, but I fear people have just gotten better at hiding it.

Doesn't it take several days to find out anyway? so we'll see around stage 15 or 16 minutes after someone takes-off up the mountains alone...

I did hear that LA has been tested 40 times in "random" tests since announcing he was going to ride after his crash.  He was tested 3x in 48 hours on "random" tests last week.  The French are really looking stupid the way this is going because you have to wonder if there's someone getting away with it since they're so focused on LA.

I'm cautiously optimistic. The only two riders that have been riding very differently from the past are Wiggins (overperforming in the mountains) and Sastre (underperforming everywhere). They'll test Wiggo continuously.

I do think that the lack of doping (plus the tour route) has created parity...there's been no opportunity for a single someone to blow the field to bits through a herculean effort.  Sadly, for me, the parity (thus far) leads to a relatively boring race. I'm a TDF junkie, but the script has been the same on the sprint stages (Cav) and the mountain stages (break goes up the road, Astana reels it in as they see fit).

If it weren't for the drama with Astana, this would be a pretty pedestrian affair.

Wiggo is peforming better than he has in the past, *but* he's also managed to shed a fair bit of weight.  Power stays the same, weight goes down, power to weight ratio goes up.

Just want to point out that it's not some miraculous event for wiggo, but taking a different approach to race prep and cutting more weight than in the past that has allowed him to now keep up with the lead group on the climbs thus far.

Anyone know how the times are looking compared with years past?  I remember last year they made a huge deal about the fact that over the last 3 years, the wattage and speed had dropped overall.  I know it's not on the same course, but they did some comparison with distance, elevation, wattage, etc.  Haven't seen anything on that this year.

It looks to me like the whole thing isn't even started but the intensity is up.  Stage 15 starts this race.

I have to agree with that Wiggins isn't trying any bust-out efforts on the mountains, he's just sitting in the main peloton and riding well.  I know I gain about 1 mph per each 5 lbs lost and it goes the other direction as I gain it back...  Which means if I were the same size as Sastre, I'd be riding at 38mph sustained...

I think the French are figuring that if they can't catch Lance doping, maybe they can at least slow him down by inducing anemia...

I think I heard they stopped LA in his warmup to go pee in a bottle...  Although that may be the time to do so, I wonder how often they do that to Joe Schmoe.

They're just using something they don't have a test for yet (ie. HGH or something similar)

Just read something really interesting on that....
