And interestingly, this is now billed as an 'Olympic' distance, with an 1100yd swim, 20 mile bike; the run is a solid 10k.  Apparently USAT blessed, per the website...

both my boys will be racing too! We have really enjoyed the series. I like the laid back format but the distances should be double. 100 yd swims for the older kids.

Does anyone know how they are going to do the swim this next weekend? Once you get out of the water the first time, you just jump in and start swimming in the next pool right? Will it be a snake swim or something else?

In the past, you did about half in the indoor pool, ran outside, and they quickly assigned you a lane and you finished up outside.  They have never done snake swim.  You start in a wave based on your estimated swim time, usually about four people per wave per lane.  They stagger everyone by a few seconds and then you just pass at the ends as needed.  Works pretty slick but this longer distance will be interesting.

Starts in the indoor pool, like Todd says ~1/2 the distance (odd # of laps so you exit at the end by the doors) and then run to the far end of the outdoor pool and complete the 2nd half; then across a small lawn area to Transition.

New this year, at the Tune-Up they had a handheld starter that allowed for Le Mans style starts (or whatever the term for that is).  So, 3-4 swimmers per lane based on time, they launched one lane at a time, swimmers 5 seconds apart.  We were able to sort ourselves by time and effort and corrected a mis-seeding that made our lane go much smoother IMO.

Hey All,

Just signed up at the last minute for this one.  Pool is interesting- starting outside, then you run outside and they place you in a lane.  My experience last year is that the outside is somewhat disorganized- so make sure to count your laps!  I did an extra one last year and the volunteer still didn't tap me!  Overall, pretty fun race- I'm using this as a warmup to Rattlesnake the following week.  I love the job the HRCA folks do to bring an event like this close to home.  See you all out there.

This is my 3rd year for this one, and I learned the 1st time not to rely on the volunteers!

The longer distances will make it interesting, especially the run course...

Just got back from doing the bike course. It's a lot like last years, but rather than turning on HR Pkwy to head back in we go down to Wildcat Reserve. Lots of hills- 1st half is pretty uphill, the 2nd half is very fast downhill. On a positive note- Douglas County was out there repairing pavement on the shoulders of the roads- so we should have a nice smooth ride!

I rode it late yesterday too, it's the cleanest I've seen it in a while!

Inverted swim start by time, this could be a bit of a pool-cluster...I'm in the 7:05 heat
