I know this has most likely been covered before, but I have a great deal of difficulty getting my wesuit past my calfs and ankles.  I have tried bodyglide and that doesn't seem to help.  I try turning it inside out and pull it off, but when it gets to my calfs and ankles the double thickness just makes it harder.  I really look stupid in the transition area wrestling for 5 minutes with my wesuit.  Anyone have any suggestions.

Is it a triathlon-specific wetsuit ?

Had the very same problem with a sailboard wetsuit I was using for swimming. I just changed my wetsuit for a tri-specific one (O'neil). It is remarkably easy to remove...

Good luck !

Christian.

How much Bodyglide are you using and how far up your legs? You've got to slather it on, when you think you have enough on, put on twice that amount.

Also, pull down your suit as far as you can turning it inside out as you do so, roughly to your knees and let the rest fall to the ground. Pull up one leg at a time while standing on the top of the suit with your other foot, repeat with the other leg. 2-3 of these with each leg should get the suit to your ankles and then hook your thumb on the back and jerk the rest of the leg over/under your heel, now is not the time to worry about being delicate. Watch people that can get out of their suits quickly try to imitate what they do. I think there's an article here that explains it better.

Crisco is another good thing to try.

Cut the legs off mid calf. Makes life much easier withthe QR and some body sizes..

I've had two QRs and it was always a problem Have a DeSoto T1 now and I can peel if in literally seconds. The T1 legs are still factory original and hit my ankles as well.

I agree with Nob. I used to have a QR and had the same problem (even when all lathered up in PAM). The legs on QRs are a little thicker than many other brands. Cutting an inch or 2 off of the legs should help a bit.

I saw something very interesting this weekend: someone spraying Pam on the outsides of their wetsuit legs.  She swore it worked wonders for pulling the legs off.

This weekend, I decided to try the hair conditioner treatment and I feel like it worked pretty well.  Basically, I slathered V05 on my legs and arms before pulling on my wetsuit, and for the first time ever, I didn't have to fall over in T1 pulling off my suit.  It just slid off wonderfully easily.  Also, almost accidentally, I had some conditioner on the outsides of the suit legs, just from it being on my hands.  I have no way to knowing whether that played a role in the ease of removal.

Ditto the leg trimming. Take about 2" off the bottom and you'll need no bodyglide/pam etc.

Thanks everyone for the help, I did a tri this weekend and I did use Pam.  It did come off with some pulling, and that did help.  No matter how much bodyglide, it does not help.  I just spayed my legs and feet.

Does trimming violate warranties? I'd imagine some people would have to cut because of height, but want to be sure.
