Yeah, since the 405 came out, the prices on the 305s are plummetting now.

Yep, The 305 will do all that you described. It is not waterproof though. I have heard of some athletes that have placed it in their swimcap to keep time. I have seen some wear them in the pool also.

Like PJ said, The 305 takes away the need for the other gadgets. I did buy the cadence sensor for the bike.

It will tell you calories burned. Like all of these devices, that number is wildly inaccurate.

Make me feel good though.

I also did the cadence sensor and the quick release. Love it.

Now to contact Garmin to see if I can get them to ship me a replacement since mine now takes on water if I even rinse it. And a new cadence sensor, since mine also stopped working and had to be replaced.

The 305 isn't Mac-compatible.

Sure it is. They came out with TrainingCenter for the Mac a while ago.

That being said, Garmin outdid themselves. They managed to make
Mac software that sucks compared to PC software. Not sure I've ever
seen that before.

I have used the Garmin 305 for a while now, it is easy to use and tells me what I need.  I am sure there are others but I KNOW that one works well... EK

Cool! That's good to know. Santa might just bring me a Garmin then after all. Smile

I have the PC side of my ProBook all set up already but don't use it much. Netflix's video streaming doesn't work. So, I never spent much thought on other "PC-only" apps...
