Great Floridian Triathlon

yea thats what i hear a lot of, not really my first pick for the first IM . but i am sticking to my goals told myself i was gonna give one a shot this year so here i go.

I know it is a long haul from Naples but I recomend you go ride the course at least one time before the race. It will help you out a lot. I think those going into it blind go too hard early on the bike and pay the consequences.

i was going to plan on that but saturday in going to FT. Lee VA for 2 weeks then Oct. 29 im going to DC for the Army 10 miler. that leaves me only 19 days till race or else I would go up. great thought thanks

I'm Registered! this is my 140.6 babeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I did it last year at the 70.3 distance.

the course is challenging.

Red Water
Deceiving short steep hills on the bike
Hot humid run, but fairly flat as we will be looping a lake

If the knee holds up, I'll be there. Rode the course Labor Day, and really struggled in the wind. The course is deceptive 'cause most of the big hills are in the first 35 miles, but the long straight segments are usually straight into the wind. It is considerably more difficult than IMF.

The old bike course for the GFT went up these series of hills twice, now I think they only go up them once. I did the race in 2006, and remembered the second time up sugarloaf, I thougts my legs were aliens.

Buck hill and some others are about as tough, I loved listening to people after the race saying " I thought Florida was flat"

the good news is, when I go ther to train, i can get 40+ on the way back down. the bad news is durin the event we only go up! hahahhaha
