Subject: RE: 10k swim training program?Unless your goal is primarily just to finish, I think the most important thing to do is join a good masters program. You're going to need to put in some significant yards, and that much swim training is likely to get boring if you're training alone.
For some point of reference, I swim with a group of people that come from swimming backgrounds (HS swimmers at the least, an Olympian at the other extreme ). A bunch of them do a 5-mile open-water race each year. For most of them, swimming about 3000 yard workouts 3x a week is enough to do a respectable job.
