Subject: My Confession

I never told anyone this, but I must confess.

In 1985 I ran a race in Pensacola called the "Palafox Place Race".  It was a 5K and I ran it with a friend named "Fat Matt".  Horrible nickname now that I think about it.  But anyway, we ran together the whole race.  We were about 1/2 mile from the end when the last two people were coming up on us...yes we were 3rd and 4th from last.  We really didn't want to be beaten so being that all of the volunteers were gone we decided to cheat a little and run through the median which probably cut off 50-100yds of the race.  We finished the race 3rd and 4th from last and went about our ways.  For some reason I felt like I needed to confess that.  It has never happened again!  I was 8 or 9 at the time.

I perused the competition at my last race, found everyone in my AG, and let the air out of their tires when I ran into transition. No biggie. Life goes on.

I'd say penance calls for you ending your next race jogging in place in front of the sensor mat for 60 seconds before crossing to make up for a 9 year old's 100m time. Then you'll be forgiven.

I'll confess that I've really wanted to cut a run short on several occasions!

Thanks for entioning that.

I rode the bike course for my tri this Sunday and it goes a block from my house.  i was thinking I could ride the first 3 miles turn off go by the house relax for about 30 min. and then finish the race.  Who would know?  Me!  It won't happen, I'll do the whole race and even help the volunteers pick up the cones as I'm finishing.

The thought occured to me once during a race that I could duck off in the woods and no one would know the difference....but me...so I didn't.  On the other hand...at 8 or 9 I probably would have done it...and knowing me got caught too

Dude, you didn't post a race report on BT.  Hence, this never happened.  In the words of Bart Simpson, "I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove anything".  Your conscience should be clear   (cheater)

The way Fat Matt tells the story is you said to him, "Dude I know a legal short cut.  Follow me."  So really there is only one cheater here

Thanks for the laugh.

Alright, alright! While attempting to swim the requisite 300 continuous yards (100 crawl, 100 breast, 100 choice) for my lifesaving class, I was so slow, especially doing the beast (I was still highly swim impared at the time and typically only doing 25 yrds at a time) the one instructor asked, "Are you done?", so I said, "Yeah, I'm done." I wasn't really done. Had 25 yards to go. I do not plan on relenquishing my certification card, though.
