Subject: Mattoon Sprint Triathlon : Official Thread
This will be my first Tri and I was wondering if in a sprint you should ride bike with road bike shoes or running shoes?  Does the road shoe make your overall time faster in a sprint Tri or just a running shoe to save time in T1 and T2?

good luck on your first tri this weekend....since it's your first tri, stick with running shoes....but I would not worry about your time....just enjoy your race...have fun

That RD puts on a great race.  I have done the HIM and the full IM distance down there.

I might make it down for the start of the race....I planned on racing but my son has his last T-Ball game that day ..... it's been moved to an earlier time because of the heat

My first Triathlon was at Lake Mattoon. I had a great experience and I'm sure you will too! Friendly people, well organized and not too big for your first race.

I think my husband is doing the Mattoon Lytle Park Tri.  I was thinking about it, but both sets of grandparents (i.e. babysitters) will be out of town.
