New user 40![]() | Subject: The Athlete's Foot in FriscoDO NOT SHOP A TTHE ATHLETE's FOOT IN FRISCO I bought a pair of shoes from the Athlete's Foot in Frisco (near Stonebriar Mall). The lady was nice and seemed somewhat knowledgeable about the shoes that she was selling. I purcahsed a pair of Nike Zoom Air Structure Triax size 13 because she said that I over pronated slightly and that I needed the support. I walked around in the store, they felt comfortable, so I purchased them. I got home and went for a 1 mile run - literally 10 minutes. I have now found out there there is a BIG difference in walking in the store on the nice padded floor, and running on the pavement of the streets in my neighborhood. The shoes were too small. I ran the following day for about 15 minutes to see if maybe something had changed, but again, I felt discomfort. When I tried to return the shoes, I was turned away, because I had...get this... "taken them out of the box" Can you believe this? Every "real" running store allows you to actually run in the shoes - not just jump around in the store. So now I am stuck with a $80 pair of shoes that I can't wear. The owner was rude and told me that I should have known better before purchasing a pair of shoes. What kind of customer service is this? How do you expect to stay in business when you treat people that way? I didnt want a refund - I wanted to exchange my shoes for the correct size. And they would not even do that. Appearantly they are only interested in the register at the end on the day. I WILL NEVER SHOP AT THE ATHLETE'S FOOT AGAIN. I went to a REAL running store to get resized and fitted for my shoes. Not only did they watch me walk, but they had me try on six different pairs of shoes, and put me on a treadmill to see if they were comfortable. And I have a full 30 guarantee to bring them back if they dont work. That's customer service...that is doing what is right. Small businesses thrive on repeat and referral business. The Athlete's Foot may have made a sale that day, but they will never get another one from me...and I am telling everyone... DO NOT SHOP AT THE ATHLETE'S FOOT IN FRISCO. |

I just bought a pair for my husband at Luke's Locker and was told this same thing - he could wear them in the house but not outside. I'd be surprised by any store that would take back shoes worn outside. |

Not the kind you find at the Mall." Were you asleep? ![]() The other thing about Mall shoe store is that they don't stock the high end, technical, running specific shoes. They tell you the shoes are, but they aren't. Try finding your favorite high end running shoes at the Mall. Won't happen. What store did you end up going to? We need to plug the good stores here. The return, wear policies depend on the store. In Corpus Christi I went to Fleet Feet. The owner told me to run outside on the sidewalk, run around the block, whatever I wanted to do. At Luke's they had me run on the tread mill. |

I get treated very well in there Luke's Locker is a good place; I usually go to Run On but that's as much a matter of convenience as anything. They're pretty equal shops imo. |

Champion 10471![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Dallas, TX | Subject: RE: The Athlete's Foot in FriscoI usually go to Luke's Locker (the location off Oaklawn has a HUGE selection) or Run On! Although, since I have worn the same brand/style for years.... I bought 4 pairs off the internet (they were changing to a new model and they were 1/2 off!). So I'm stocked up on running shoes for 2 years. Now, I have been told that if I run OUTSIDE in the shoes I buy, I can't return/exchange them. So I always make sure to run on the treadmill to see if I like the shoes or not. I can't recall which shop told me I can't run outside and return/exchange them. I thought it was Luke's? |

You can run on a treadmill and still return them. Once you run outside, they're yours. So, the store wasn't being completely unreasonable... since Luke's and Run On probably wouldn't have taken back the shoes either. To the OP, you did run outside in the shoes. Always run on a treadmill to break the shoes in. |

That is all I wanted...a little time to actually run in the shoes to see if they fit. And I didn't want a refund, I wanted a size larger...oh well. Anyone need a pair of 13's? great shoes, just too small for me... |

Veteran 347![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Subject: RE: The Athlete's Foot in FriscoThe sales lady at run on told me to try to run on them on a treadmill or around a rubber track if possible. Any chance at creating a separation in the sole creating a "defect" in the shoe? That should be returnable for some time after purchase. Guess you could craigslist or ebay them and get back part of your money. |
