Subject: RE: mama of 4..need advice for tri-trainingHi Kristi, welcome to the group! I'm sure you'll get lots of advice and motivation from the great folks here. Best thing I can say is to go ahead and start training, and listen to your body. If it starts to talk back to you, via sore knees, calves, foot pain, back off a bit on what caused the problem. The other day I started getting a cramp in my calf from running on the treadmill, so I took it easy on that for a couple days, concentrating more on riding the bike. I'll ease back into it tomorrow. Don't be afraid to take a rest day, once a week is a good idea. It's easy to get caught up in a lot of enthusiasm with something new and start trying to overload your training schedule. Be sure and eat a good breakfast. Watch your fluid intake, don't get dehydrated from the increased aerobic activity. Ask plenty of questions here, and above all, have fun in both your training and racing. Keep us up to date on how things are going. You're a winner in my book for juggling the career, the kids and the training!
