Good Luck tomorrow everyone.  Remember to stay hydrated today and stay out of the sun as much as possible.  Weather as your run starts will be heat index 90-95 ish.  At the table today don't hesitate to say "pass the salt" either.

See you there, Bib # 199, red Marin road bike w/clip-on aerobars.

Well that was brutal.  No two ways about it.  Glad to be done.  I might just run Sprint Tris for July in the future!  Lost 7 pounds from pre-race to post-race.  Building back up to "fighting weight" with Taco Johns and Push Endurance (ok, maybe some mountain dew they had, too).

Yeah, I was thinking about you guys out there while on my long, that turned into a not as long as planned, training run this morning.   Hope everyone survived.

I got owned on that run. Laughing

I said it somewhere else too, I think I ran out of training before I ran out of race. Heart rate was Ok, just couldn't keep my legs from cramping. I felt them starting to cramp with about 4 miles left on the bike and knew then that the run was going to be not so bueno.

There were about 5 of us that finished together that we started calling the lifeboat, we just kept picking people up. I had real concerns about missing the run cutoff on some it.

I think I messed up the swim course too.

Holy *#$&@! was that brutal.

I now hold the dubious distinction of being DFL two years in a row. Bleh.  And with the new bike and a little bit of actual run training too. Sheesh.  About 10 minutes faster that last year though it looks like.

That took serious determination for anyone to finish, I'm sure even the sprint runners weren't happy.

Um, yeah, friggin' hot and humid.  Didn't feel it so much on the bike but the run was something else.  Congratulations to all who finished this beast!  Anyone know what the temp. and humidity was at say 9:30?  Second run in a row I had to walk a little.

I forget who said they lost 7 pounds...I bet I was about the same.  Started at 156 when I left the house....downing two bottles of water on the way home, then eating so good old home cookin deep fried crappie and hush puppies, pineapple and two pieces of cheese cake I was still only 152!!!!!

I don't know about everyone else but the last two miles of that run felt like 5.

All in all...I am happy about my race.  I was shooting for 25-1:11-44 with two minutes of T-time = 2:22:00 ... I was able to complete my first olympic in 2:22:50 !!!!

Great job to everyone who survived the elements!!!  See you at the next one.

Nice job out there Brandon, 4th OA in your first Oly, not too shabby at all.  You rocked that swim, 25 flat, wow that's fast.  That OA winner was quick on the bike wasn't he, 23.4 mph average!

My run and swim used to be stronger than my bike.  Now it's turned around.  I did the sprint the last two years, last years bike was under 19 mph, this year at twice the distance I was nearly 21 mph.  Now my run needs work, ugh!

It was a little toasty out there.  At least this time they had the course marked correctly.  I participated in 2009 and added an extra 2.5+ miles to the run when about 20 of us went the wrong way (the left turn arrow was still on the road from the prior year's course).

Given the heat, I had a solid bike (1:09) and run (44) and finished in 2:28+.  But my swim was over 32 minutes.  I keep talking big about going to a masters swim class, but it has only been talk so far.  If I'm going to take that next leap in triathlons, I better learn to swim better.

Congrats to all who survived the race!

That's an impressive run split, especially after the solid bike split.  Yeah, if you get that swim time down along with some improvements on the bike/run you'll be gunning for OA podium spots.

I swim masters at Prairie Life Fitness.  They have workouts at the one on 103rd and Metcalf and also in Olathe at 135th and Black Bob.  I go to Olathe Tues/Thurs night from 7 to 8 because it's convenient and on my way home from work.  I also do a couple of swim meets a year just to measure progress.  I'm usually FOP in Tri's but at swim meets more like MOP/BOP, those folks are fast but you can learn from them.  There's usually at least 2-3 triathletes that swim with our evening group.  All skill levels are welcome, we have a snorkel lane!

But, you DID FINISH.

For most of us, that was the important thing. Was for me anyway!
