Has anyone done the Hightstown Triathlon?

I did it last year and am signed again for this year.

What kind of info are you looking for?

Just general info I guess.. IE, is it a fun race, organized,conditions last year?

Yeah, I think it is nicely organized and last year, the weather was good.  I understand in past years though it always rained.

They made some changes to the course this year which I think will make even better, they reversed the run course so you finish coming down Main Street which visually should be a lot better.  And I believe they upped the bike from 12 to 15 miles.

The lake is nice, I go there on Friday nights for the OWS as well, if you don't and could, you should check it out.

I definitely enjoyed it last year and expect to again this year.

Do they do an OWS there every Friday?

Yeah, weather permitting.  It is from 6:30-8:00pm.

Oh great. Is there someone that organizes it or just show up?

Yeah, Darek, the race director runs it on Friday evenings.  You can just show up, but need a USAT membership or pay the $10 daily insurance fee.  A little donation for the lifeguards and that is about it.  He has a 250 yard loop marked with buoys and you can swim as many laps as you like, stopping and starting whenever.

He will post on Facebook, if you use that, usually Friday by 3:00pm if it is a go or not.  It's based on weather and water quality.

I'll cast another vote for this tri! It was my very first, and where I grew up, so I'm biased Highly recommended for newbies since it's small and less indimidating than the big events. Rode the new bike course a few weeks back and it should be a pretty good ride.  Love the Friday swims as well. (They helped immensly, though nothing could have prepared me for swimming in a wave of 100 people on Sat am. OMG!) All this 5 minutes from my house. Love it!  Good luck and have fun!
