Thought I'd get the ball rolling on the IMOO 2010 race thread...who all is in for the race? :)

This will be my first full IM, and I'm super excited (and a little scared).

IN !!!!!

This will be number 2 for me but by no means any less stressful to think about.  I would love to get a new tribike this winter just for a little extra kick in the butt to get some serious training in.  I have done all of my previous tri's on my Giant OCR2 road bike and thought it would be nice to have a tri bike for once.  Anyways, cheers to the next 350 +/- days ahead of us.

I'm in which is pretty crazy. In the middle of figuring out what my winter base training is going to be. I need to work on legs for those hills and trying to drop some weight before the heavier training begins in the spring. It will be my first!

I'm in, I just raced it last week as my first IM and had to come back for another year. I am injured and looking at 4-6 months recovery so I'll be biking and swimming a ton for now, then easing back to running in the spring. My "A" race so to say is IMLP 7 weeks before IMWI but I still think IMWI will be important and I know it will be incredibly fun. It's a great race, you'll all be happy you signed up!

I'm in - my first, too. I volunteered this year and had the chance to bike the course - looks like lots of hill training over the next 12 months.

My brother and I are both in!!!  My brother did his first at IMNZ 08 and I am doing my first at IMFL in 48 days.  We decided to have a little head to head competition for next year.  Wisconsin is great because all of our family is from Chicago so we have a built in support structure up there.  In addition, my brother and I have about the same race pace so it will keep me honest during my training.

What is everyone planning for their off season and when is your "serious" training kicking in?

I'm currently trying to figure out what I'm going to be doing the next few months. Even though I'm calling it base training it really is going to be focused towards IMOO since I need pretty much the entire year to get where I need to be.

My plan is to join a local training group that is specifically focused at Ironman Wisconsin and that starts in Mid February.

I'm planning to do a BT beginner or intermediate 20 week plan, but that won't start until April. A "winter" BT plan that rolls into April would start in December. I'm not certain what to follow until December - maybe just try and maintain a three sport base until the end of the year. I'm afraid I might lose focus if I'm too rigid with training this early. My "A" race this year was half iron at the end of July. Formal training started in January (26 weeks) and I was really frustrated with the trainer by March. One of my only quips about living in MN.

My IM build training won't start until May.  Between now and then, I plan to work on swimming and running as time and body permit.

I'm starting a BT 20-week off season plan which I will follow somewhat loosely.  I don't want to get anal at this point.  I followed a strict plan last winter and I got burned out early this year.

I have a 27 week plan from Gale Bernhardt that I am thinking of using for my plan.  I used one of hers for a 70.3 and it worked well, especially with my travel schedule.  I will start that, say, 27 weeks out from the event.Smile

Can we rename this thread to Ironman Wisconsin 2010?

I am also in for 2010!!! ROund 2 for me...

This year was my first Ironman and it was awesome! SO happy I signed up again!

Going to take some time and recover and enjoy some easy days and then see what happens! I have a great coach who has been so helpful, and I am staying with her for next year as well!!! COuldn't be happier with how things went!!

Hope to work on my run time and see if I can get that to decrease and then go from there!

Have a great week!

I am in.  This will be my first IM as well.  I volunteered this year, and have watched it the last few years.  It is hard to watch and be a part of it and not want to compete in it.  Looking forward to all the challenges involved in getting ready for the event.

I'm in as well.  Did IMKY in 2008, IMCDA in 2009.

I'm running the Chicago Marathon this year and then shutting it down with no structured training for at least 2 months.  My body is shot right now.

I plan on doing the Endurance Nation off season plan and then work with a coach to for IMWI specific training.  Good luck everybody.

I'm in also.

I'm doing a run focused plan now since I have 10 miler coming up. But then starting in mid October I'll follow the 16 week bike program Jorge set up for folks last year and then mix in the swim/run on my own. The bike plan focuses on intensity rather then duration which is helpful for us trainer bound folks. Although I do plan on adding a longer trainer ride each week (1-3 hours).

Then in April I'll start the intermediate 20 week plan too.

loos like there are a few of us IMOO folks doing chicago in a couple weeks...i'm in for that as well (hopefully my foot that hurts won't put me out for too long after chicago!)

so, for a conservative estimate, I should start gearing up in marchish?  or maybe april?  i might be delusional or sick, but i'm actually kind of excited to devote much of my free time next year to training!
