I do.  The best deal out ther for a really good product, IMHO, is Target.  The Archer Farms 2lb container of Roasted for $9.99.  Great snack.  Better than other brands I have tasted.

Thanks for the tip!  I love almonds but usually spend $$$ on them.  Recently I have been addicted to Emerald roasted almonds.  Delicious but very expensive!

Eating some right now as I sit here at work. Thanks for the info. They are a great snack and actually can help bring your cholesterol down. That is why I started eating them. And they have kept me from having to go on medicine for the rest of my life. I swear by them.

You can get 5lbs raw at cosco or sams club for that price.

Yup...I actually prefer the raw over the roasted variety.  I switched to raw almonds about a year ago, and haven't looked back.  I usually get mine at Trader Joe's, but Super Target has a good deal on them as well.  I eat my raw almonds combined with a handful of walnut pieces...yummm!

Yeah, I've been buying the 5lb bag at cosco and just roasting them on a baking sheet. I fill a large zip-lock freezer bag and keep them in the pantry. They're not bad raw either. Any idea if the nutritional value is lost in the roasting process?

Darn, I thought I found a deal with 3 lbs for $9.99 at BJ's, guess I need to borrow someone's Costo membership!  I want to try to make almond butter this week, was my reason for buying the huge bag but the boyfriend has found them and is taking them to work- hey better then the junk in the vending machine!

The argument I've read is that application of a high enough amount of heat breaks down the fat molecules so they are no longer the ones that are best for your cholesterol.  Not sure of the exact molecular changes or the temps necessary to make them happen.  On the other hand, lightly roasting brings out the flavor and makes a small amount more satisfying.  I've read a lot about this and the consensus seems to be that if you roast them yourself, without oil, and only lightly, then you're not losing much.  Usual caveat - I'm not a scientist...

Raw almonds are beautiful. I especially like them when soaked in water for a few hours or over-night. They plump up and get very sweet. Beautiful.
