That the sport was so addictive!

With that said I completed the Surf town Tri in Imperial beach on Sunday in 1:19:28. It has been a very cool journey and I think I am still on a high from the experience.

Some of the great things this sport has given me in the very short time I have been active:

I started off weighing in at 222 pounds. Pre- race I was 187 pounds!!! I had tried everything to shed pounds but by reading and applying the information from the forums and nutrition information on the site not only did the pounds come off it was easy and most of all FUN!

A new attitude! I left the Navy in 2004 in pretty decent shape but never had the motivation to maintain it. I stayed motivated throught the program and after yesterday I am already looking at the next goal.

A new facet to an already amazing wife! She is always very supportive of whatever I do. She has gone over and above in this endeavor. From getting up well before the crack of dawn to be at a race to eating what I eat to make sure I stick to smart food choices. It made getting here even easier.

New friends: I think newbies gravitate toward eachother. I met 3 others whom were racing their first Tri yesterday as well as several vets who were more than willing to share pointers.

New toys!!!! Who doesnt like new toys... I went spend crazy and purchased a Cervelo because my old road bike just wouldn't cut it right? I would feel bad about it but I have way too much fun riding it! I can't count the number of other assorted goodies I bought as "training" aids... Thanks to above mentioned wifes support she hasn't murdered me yet!

Anyway, sorry for being all over this place with the post. I just want to close out by saying what a great community Triathletes are and this site in particular.

Yeah, REALLY!! I have spent almost all my disposable income (and some that wasn't) on tri gear ... including upgrading my bike (twice). The bike I have now is all carbon, and what a difference it makes to the comfort of the ride. Being involved in triathlons is really a lifestyle choice, and it's especially good with supportive spouses. I feel a bit bad for my husband; watching a tri involves seeing me for two or three minutes a couple times, and then waiting for a long time for me to reappear. But I love it!! Congrats on getting in to the sport. I've done two Sprints and one Olympic distance, and am toying with the absurd notion of a Half Iron next year!! Gulp ....

I knew what you were going to say before I opened this post.  It is very addictive.  It gets really  bad when you are invisioning yourself crossing the finish line for your next race.

x2 on that, good buddy!  I just did my first last Monday and now can't wait for the next one, especially since I saw so many areas for improvement to really chop down my time.

I'm afraid all my time, exercise energy, and money are now going to go to tri...

Same story as many of you.  I signed up for my first triathlon at the end of January - giving myself about 4 months to get ready.  I've now completed 4 sprints with a 5th on the calendar.  January weight was 280.  This morning - 234.

I've bought every bit of speed I can find and am upping my training to get ready for the Florida Ironman 70.3 next May!

Hooked and in the boat!
