Good thing I got up early yesterday and managed to get a slot for 2011! Wondering if anyone out there can point me in a direction to find accomodations for this race. Good luck with training to all!

Hi P,
I did Busso Half last May, and have again signed up for the half in '11 and, like you, sat ready to pounce on the keyboard
at 10am AEDT to get my slot for IMWA in Dec. '11.
Last May I stayed at Bunker Bay resort - about 25 minutes out of Busselton.  The accomodation was gorgeous but not cheap.  I will rethink this for IM as I"m not sure I want to be that far away from the start/finish on race day.
I looked hard at Abbey Beach Resort and I am fairly sure I"ll end up there for IM - at least on the before and after the race.
Good luck with your training.
Jane

Hi
Just going by the Half IM race there was abundant parking near the start/ finish - on a big grassy lot near the foreshore...
very near the swim start.
I know the IM has a new start/finish which is in the town but it's a very small place - so I imagine it's still very convenient.
I'll let you know if I find out more information - a friend of mine at work did it last year (and said it was an incredible race!!)

Cheers
Jane

Late entry here - I'm a Seattle resident.  I'm unbelievably excited for this trip - sounds like a great race and a chance to find some sun in December!

Also looking fwd to this.

You will all be ahead of me on the day but hope you can all break your PBs.

This will be my first Ironman so a PB is guaranteed!

If you have any questions about this race let me know as I did it last year as my first IM.

One of the ovals next to transition will normally be a car park and can accomodate almost all spectators. As the run is through the town centre you can also park anywhere in town as it's walking distance to the transition area.

Good luck to you all

What temperature is typical for that time of year?

I know I'm looking forward to the swim.  Anything will be better than the freezing water in IM Coeur d'Alene.

Cheapest and safest will be to just take it with you on the flight.  International FedEx and UPS is insanely expensive, plus the sort facilities will wreak havoc on your bike.  If you are going all the way to Perth from Kona on one itinerary, you'll only have to pay once each way which will be 100 - 150 USD or so, depending on which airline you're flying.

I work for one of those fancy global express shipping companies, have a 75% employee discount and I won't even ship it that way....I just take it with me on the plane.
