Good morning all, had a quick question. If you could have a piece of triathlon specific artwork, what would you want? I'm a painter and am looking for some ideas as I have been wanting to paint something Ironman related.  As of now, I mainly paint automotive/race car art but have had the itch to paint tri related. Ideas?

I think a really neat painting would be a blue monochromatic of a cyclist going on a downhill in an underwater setting with a jet stream behind. Cyclist outline would be black, and fill in the different features of the cyclist with shades of light blue (sky blueish)

I've had that image in my head for a while but unfortunately my painting prowess sucks =/ I love painting but I'm not the artsy type :P wish I had the talent for it.

Think something like that, except road bike and in an underwater setting.

I have seen different things, but I liked the print/poster we got at the Pigman HIM in 2011.  It shows different stages of the overall event, so you have swimmers in the water and different people on bikes  and running.  My wife used that as a backing in a frame and the pictures that she took of me during the event, she cut out and put with the poster for a neat present of the event.

I am sure you will get many more ideas, and some will come in PM's as I have received requests via PM on some of the metal art that I am doing.  Good luck!!!!

Thanks for the ideas guys.  I have been playing around with some ideas, but still keep coming back to a motion shot of a cyclist in aero... something like a frontal 3/4 shot from the ground (point of view).

Here is what I paint normally (and portraiture)

Great Paintings...

My Idea would be an old old old school mural of the Triathlon.  Think of what the first triathlon (Not necessarily the first Ironman) would have looked like.  A Transition area with about 6-8 bikes, 6-8 folks lining up for the swim in baggy board shorts, old school road bikes with fat tires, same baggy swim suits on the run, throw in a couple John McEnroe head bands on a couple of the folks... No spectators...
