I went for my swim today, and took the outside lane.  About 3 laps in, they decided to top off the water level in the pool with a 1.5" hose...at the end of my lane.  @#$%!  COLD! @#$%&*$@!!!  They brought that water in from Canada I think...could be Owie's fault.

Trying to keep my slow pace, I would get to the end and just sprint.  Kept throwing me off every length.  I'd get all sprinted out at the end of the lane and then sputtering at the middle.

That cold hose water sounds like great incentive to sprint! I'll have to try that.

you could be right about the water coming from Canada...it has been sooo cold here the last couple weeks that they can't even keep the gym warm. The pool water has been cold enough to take my breath away- not even sprinting has helped with the chattering teeth.

Yeah, -15 is no fun at all.  The snow makes that funny squeaking sound because even water is in pain when it's that cold.

I  hereby decree the following:

1.  Canadians shall in the future be free to send their beer south to the US.

2.  From November to March Canadians shall keep their cold water and arctic air masses to themselves, unless such air or water is being used to chill the beer instead of my pool.

I know i'm late in this cold water discussion, but I think my gym gets their water from the antartic- i think they save money this way.

i loved this discussion- brought a much necessary smile.

Impossible sir, the water would swim the opposite and incorrect direction in the northern hemisphere.

Wrybosome,

I think if water does come from the south pole its a government conspricy.
