Subject: RE: 24 hour race on new years evewell farest I gone is 31 miles and well it is hard.
You might be right I might break that. I would love to go 63 miles but I am also trying to have realistic goals. If I hit 63 miles I would be like 7th in my running club for most miles in a single running event. leader is at 387 mile so not likely to catch her. atleast not for while.
I think I am going to walk/run like 1:30 and rest :30. The idea is not to let my muscles to too exhausted and let them recover. I know 31 miles straight can be painful but I also know that running 5 miles and resting some and running 5 miles again make those second 5 miles alot easier.
The idea is when they start to get tired to relax and let them recover some. This way I can continue on and use the 24 to my advantage and not just get completely exhausted crash after 12 hours. Even if I crash for 9 hours then I have 3 more when I wake up. .
My marathon pace is around 6:15 and my 50k pr is 8:30 to give you an idea of my skills.
Also sucks is my HR monitor battery says its low and might die soon. Doh. I want my HR to tell me when I need to slow down and when I need to well maintain my slow pace. Lucky for me the path is made out of dirt. My 50ks been on blacktop and cement so the dirt will be alot easier on the joints.
