Hey gang, I've been lurking on here too long and would love to meet some fellow BT'ers this weekend. My wife and I will be heading up early sunday morning from Madison, and I imagine it will be controlled chaos before the race, but are there going to be any of you hanging out after the race?Whose all going to be there?-Jon

Oh, and anyone know if wetsuits are going to be a good idea?

Hello!  I am pretty new here too but am planning on Devil's Lake triathlon.  I know a few others are doing it as well.  You can check to see who has it in their planned races at http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/directory/link-detail.asp?linkid=4215 .  It will tell you who is registered.  I am still a little to heavy to fit into my old wetsuit so won't have one but I don't know how cold the water is this year.  I did hear it is pretty high.  I also heard they changed the bike course because of road conditions.

I am not doing it this year, BUT last year the morning was so cold that the water felt like a bath.  I did it sans wetsuit and I was fine.  Hope your start temps are better.  Good luck!

I'm signed up. It's looking to be another cold day. I really have to stop signing up for this one, as the weather is always nasty.

Year before last, the water was so cold even the elites walked the first 1/3 - 1/2 the swim. It was too cold to put your face in. Last year the water wasn't that bad, but the air was 33 degrees. I expect this year to be somewhere in between. The nights have been cold already, so I doubt the water will be super warm, but they're predicting lows in the 40's for this weekend, so the air will be a little warmer.

It sounds like I will be freezing cold because I won't be able to fit into my wetsuit yet Cry  I think I may start whining.

Well, the forecast so far is looking like it's going to be 15-20 degrees warmer at the start than last year, but windy. Not great, but I'll take it over last year.

I've come close to meeting BTers and assorted Donkai at High Cliff and IM 08 (cheering them on), but so far no dice. (I'm not up to speed on Donkai/Donkey Nation yet).  Don't know if there should be a common meeting spot but that might be worthwhile.

I will be heading up Sunday morning from Middleton with a few friends and we are thinking of hiking or kayaking sometime after the race.

The weather looks great!  Wind will only be a problem in the Gall Rd area.  I'm bringing the wetsuit.  Might have to look out for the weeds as they seem to be right through the area where we parallel swim to the shore.

I am toying with signing up last minute... maybe...

Last year was a funny race.. If you have a wetsuit, bring it along... you can decide morning of. But, its not necessary.

regardles...I am camping there and will at the very least be "Sherpa-ing" for some friends doing the race!

I threw a race report up, but in summary: I did ok, but not fantastic. Had a blast though and the family loved it, so that's what's important.

My race report is up - I got 4th in my age group, which is totally my best ever placing, and a PR by nearly 10 minutes for this race. Woo hoo!
